The Chicago Middle School Debate League (CMSDL) was created before the start of the 2008/09 school year and began with six schools. Over the past six years the CMSDL has more than quadrupled the number of participating schools, through concerted expansion efforts and the support of the CDC’s private partners. With the partnership of the Chicago Public Schools Department of Academic Competitions and Office of Academic Enrichment, and the Chicago Debate Commission, the CMSDL now encompasses 25 schools and about 300 students.
